COLUMBUS, OH — In terms of season, it's basically winter. That has not prevented our boy from pacing the fairways. But the turn of the calendar from 2007 to 2008 means we have a brand new shiny season to embrace.

"I am starting off with positive focused swings," says Scott Zavinski. "This is my year to improve."

Zavinski has already posted 11 scorecards averaging 60.6 points per round. He has opened the season with a much lower 11.5 stroke handicap.

"I am pretty much a high-ball hitter and it gets pretty windy here," says Zavinski. "Some of the par-5s are impossible when played into this frigid bone chilling cold. Everyone can expect a rise in play with normal summer trade winds. That will make a difference."

Scott latest round on January 16 was his season high. The 13-over 85 at Crossings in northern Richmond was worth 65 points.

In other news, the business office announced the release of 14 golfers from the Spackler community. The releases included golfers not actively involved with the annual golf trip. The community drops from 147 members to 133 members.
