McAninch Returns

May 5, 2008

WESTERVILLE, OH — The Spackler business office announced the signing of highly-touted John McAninch to the 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship. McAninch signs as the record-high 69th participant to the tournament field.

McAninch was asked to hold a press conference to discuss his 5th tournament.

"It is all about tempo," said McAninch. "It is about pausing at the top, whispering 'cheeseburger / French fries' and then starting the arms before plowing the body through the swing. I can never seem to get there before starting my downswing.

Spackler has been the Pinnacle of my 'year-in-Golf'! Getting together with the guys is always a great time; especially having those super hero 'my Dad can beat up your Dad' moments with Trent Cooper. He's the real deal!  Al Czervik.....move over! There's nobody out there that can make you laugh like Cooper can. Those salmon golf shirts take the cake."

McAninch signs after placing runner up for the 2008 Stroke Award. The 18 long putts and 36 points allowed John to finish in 37th position.

"McAninch has tremendous success at the regional level," noted Vice President of Awards, Jason Watson. "Rumor has it... John showcased his accuracy and course management skills in the past. His mental game has allowed his scorecards to drop into an 11.5 stroke handicap. This guy does not hack on every hole as some reports have suggested."

John McAninch represents one of 28 golfers to represent Ohio. There are 30 days prior to Round 1. The Welcome Party at Homer's Sports Bar will begin 90 minutes after the optional practice round on Wednesday.
