He's Back!

May 2, 2005

WARREN, PA — The Carl Spackler Open did not have a highly demanded open spot for long. "He's Back!", says a thrilled Greg Garrett.  The Captains Club has resigned Richard "Dick" Myers to compete in 2005 major championship. "This guy has tremendous success with his drive to the golf course, his parallel parking, and even paying for a round of golf. He even looks very good for 50+."

Dick Myers fired 38 points to open the On Tour Championship season.  He shot an unusual, but impressive 119 strokes.  "Those kind of numbers can win the Spackler," says Don Creighton. "He really could make a run at the Golden Jacket."

Golf skill does not matter as limitations will be well hidden at the Spackler tournament. Richard showcased his lack of accuracy, scaulding short game and lack of course management skills last year in Tanglewood Park, but still took time to meet with the press and drink Jack Daniels.

Richard Myers signs in early May and replaces Tom McCauley who withdrew two weeks ago.  He is the third dick to sign for the major championship.  He also returns the Pennsylvania representation back to 20 players.  Ohio currently leads representation with 21 players.

The latest signing puts the tournament back to 66 players. Although a certain shift of pairings is probable, the tournament still plans to release player pairings next Monday. The 2005 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to begin with it's annual practice round on June 8 with 42 players.
