Rookie Don Cook Signs Intent

February 4, 2002

ROCKY MOUNT, NC — Don Cook has signed a late national letter-of-intent to attend the Carl Spackler Open Championship at The Colonial Golf Club, starting with the 2002 spring tournament. First-year player Chris Lashley made the announcement on Sunday before the Super Bowl.

"I'm extremely excited with Don's decision," Lashley said. "We're fortunate to get someone with his personality.  He will benefit our program outside the golf bag significantly because of his exceptional golf clothing attire but also his personality.  Lashley skipped around the 102 average that Don has been putting up over the past few months.

"Don Cook understands and has grown accustomed to the level of golf in which the Spackler Open will demand with players like Pokey and Randy Watson.  I believe he's yet another key to the piece of the puzzle for us in becoming a very large national tournament," added Lashley.
