MOUNT STERLING, KY — The #1 amateur golf tournament in America, Carl Spackler Open, and their Captains Club have plans to return this year with another efficient daily setup very similar to South Padre island, TX and Snowshoe, WV. In the process, the event announced it will not provide bus or taxi service for the second time in 10 years. It will be the second straight year without bus service.

It is a 14-minute walk to the clubhouse and 20-minute walk to the sports bar.

The lodging location removes drinking and driving after golf with simple car pooling or walking. It also allows for walking each night. The general locale decreases fuel costs, decreases transportation time, and allows for additional relaxation.

"We are very satisfied with the opportunities in the town of Mount Sterling," says Vice President of Tournament Transportation, Don Creighton. "The primary goal is to provide an environment that promotes fun and safety. We have found that in Mount Sterling, KY."

The lack of shuttle service is one reason the 2014 Carl Spackler Open has a low event fee ($424) while inflation continues to rise.

"One of the most undervalued and hidden aspects to planning is the lost transportation time each morning and afternoon," says Creighton. "To move 60 to 80 people anywhere consumes more time than most realize. It is critical to establish an event with safe transportation, however organized transportation eats up a packed itinerary, which eats up sleeping time. The Mount Sterling setup is expected to add 90 more minutes of sleep time each morning and 4 hours of extra sleep over the entire event."

The 2014 Carl Spackler Open begins on May 14 with the annual practice round. There are 44 golfers signed to participate in the 14th annual Spackler birthday party. Collection of mailed checks will continue until mid-week. Participant options are expected to start as early as February 14.
