GALLOWAY, OH — By most standards, Mark Wray has gotten off to a great start in 2006. Just not by his.

“I would not say that I’m very happy,” he said last week after shooting 11-over par at Thorn Apple Country Club.

“I have played, what, three rounds and won nothing. Zavinski has a huge lead. I have to put things in proper perspective.”

Beating Zavinski can be a tall order if he continues to play well. Last year, one he considers to be perhaps his best ever, he roared up the leaderboard placing 2nd to Nick Casale. “Well, I’ve gotten a little spoiled,” he said.

“I got off to a good start this year with a pair of 80's. It is still considered off-season up here. There is lots of time and Zavinski should be watching over his shoulder.”

Wray currently holds 5th position in the 2006 Virtual Tournament with 36.7 points per round. There are 29 golfers on the season-long tournament leaderboard.
