Round of the Year

June 19, 2006

POWELL, OH — Bill Bateson shot the round of the year on Saturday at Scioto Reserve Golf & Athletic Club. He shot 85 strokes or 13-over par. His no birdie round gives him a near record 40 Poststats Points.

"No triple bogeys always helps," said Bateson after his round. "Clearly hitting the ball better than in memory. I have not whiffed in almost 2 years now."

Bateson's round allows him to nearly slide into the Top 10 for the season long Virtual Tournament. He holds 11th position with 36.1 points per round.

Bill returned last week from his 3rd major championship with a poor final round, but clearly his best career tournament finishing tied for 13th position. He played in the final group during final round play. Both Bateson and Bryan Grasser have a spike in strokes on Saturday.

"There is no surprise that Virtual Tournament success has been accompanied with swing lessons," said Vice President of Swing Technology, Tom McCauley. "Scott Zavinski leads the tournament after taking several professional lessons. Bateson has reportedly done the same."

Bateson's game has dropped from the triple digits to mid to high 80's in a matter of months.

"You never hear about Virtual Tournament success with a newly purchased driver or brand new set of sticks," said left handed Little Buddy Campbell. "We need to see success and get serious about our games."

The Virtual Tournament hits its half way point in 2 weeks.
