Binghamton Riverwalk
December 4, 2011
BINGHAMTON, NY — The Captains Club announced today that the Binghamton Riverwalk Hotel & Conference Center in downtown Binghamton, NY will host the players of the 2012 Carl Spackler Open. The hotel was chosen for quality, but more importantly for its locale.
"We are very excited about the Riverwalk and their ability to host our players inside 50 non-smoking rooms," says Captains Club member Tom McCauley. "Everyone that knows me knows that I should not be driving a vehicle anywhere. The Riverwalk is walking distance to highlighted entertainment and a number of restaurants."
Binghamton Riverwalk has a health club, an indoor pool, a spa tub, and a steam room. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in public areas. The hotel offers a restaurant and a bar/lounge.
"The hotel looks and feels like a recently purchased Hyatt," says McCauley. "It is far and way the nicest hotel ever. It is probably too nice for an ex-greenskeeper like me."
The hotel serves a complimentary full breakfast each morning. Guests have complimentary access to a roundtrip airport shuttle. Guest parking is complimentary.
A total renovation of this property was completed in January 2011. Another lower level renovation took place in September 2011 after Hurricane Irene flooded Binghamton.
"We were very happy to have acquired a banquet room inside the hotel," says McCauley. "This will steamline the Awards Dinner and Awards Presentation on Saturday."
The golf event has secured 50 rooms with two double beds. A participant option for Tuesday night lodging will be offered in March 2012.
The 2012 Carl Spackler Open will be played at Conklin Players Club in Conklin, NY. It will be managed from downtown Binghamton, NY. The 4-day event will begin with its practice round on June 6. There are 70 to 90 participants expected for the 12th annual golf tournament.
