GXVI Signup to Begin July 15
June 25, 2012
POWELL, OH — A well-rested and relaxed Butter, fresh off vacation in the Outer Banks, took to the podium to discuss the signup for GXVI.
"We are pleased to formally announce the details for GXVI," Butter said. "Over the last 15 years, this outing has grown from 8 Loozers meeting outside of Beckley, WV, to what it has become today; in our opinion the best deal in golf. The majority of the trip is still the same, Thursday and Friday best ball competition, Saturday scramble, cooking at the cabin. Along the way, we've adapted when needed. From adding a second house to adding the nine-hole scramble round (Sheik and Bro, douches!)to creating the cornhole calcutta, changes have been made to the experience that we believe have been for the better. The biggest change for GXVI will deal with Friday dinner. After the time we ended up with cold pizza for dinner because we were late getting off the course, Chef decided to take over the cooking; we all know he's done a fabulous job. To take some of the pressure off of Chef and allow him to fully enjoy the nine-hole scramble, we are arranging a meal in the dining room at the lodge. Final menus will be determined, but the plan is to have something ready when the scramble is finished so that everyone walks in to the dining room, sits down with fellow Loozers at a table and has a nice meal waiting for them. No cleanup afterwards, no sitting around waiting for Chef to finish up the prep work."
Sheik stepped up next to explain the cost. "While we're disappointed to announce an increase in cost, we still believe we're offering the best value in golf," Sheik said. "After years of not having an increase in greens fees, the course increased this year's cost by $5 a round. Considering that we have almost no leverage with the course to negotiate, we accepted the increase. As a result of some other cost increases, this year's base trip cost will be $340, a $20 increase from GXV. Online signup will begin July 15 and run through August 15. If you haven't figured out by August 15 whether or not you can make it, we'll probably see you next year."
As part of registration, on-course contests will once again be made available. From the Bro long putt / long drive contest to the 100 FEET!!! to the JT +11.5 at 18 and others including the team competitions, there will no shortage of chances for Loozers to win back some of the trip cost on the course.
Other items are still being worked out over the next couple weeks before July 15. Stay tuned to see what other announcements may occur. 87 days remain until the GXVI practice round.
