BARNESVILLE, PA — The Captains Club announced today the details surrounding the practice round including 36-hole option on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Mountain Valley Golf Course. The practice round returns for its 16th straight year, but offered for the third time in 36 holes.

"Mountain Valley is our second 36-hole facility in as many years," says Captains Club member Pat Boland. "There are 36 different holes and the 54-hole tournament will be played using all 36 holes."

The standard practice round is included in the $415 golf trip fee. The round will begin using a shotgun format at 2:00PM EST. The optional second round will be offered inside the participant options next month (April 2017) for 36 holes on Wednesday. The second round will be played prior to the standard practice round and cost each participant $20.00. The optional second practice round will also begin using a shotgun format at 8:00AM EST.

The standard 2:00PM EST tee time will accommodate late arrivals. Range balls are included and will be available one-hour prior to both rounds. "I plan to partake in the 36-hole option," says Boland. "To skip it would mean there is something more important to do. That simply is not the case."

The participant option process will be held in April 2017. Participants will have the option to participate in a "second round" on Wednesday for $20.00. The standard practice round at 2:00PM is included in the $415 golf trip fee.

Initial golf bag storage, tournament player meeting, and clubhouse social will begin after the standard practice round.

The Carl Spackler Open will return to Barnesville, PA for a third time. Mountain Valley is the only facility to host multiple Carl Spackler Open's. There are presently 73 participants including 2005 and 2011 Mountain Valley Champions Rick Dosky and Jay Dilks. The reigning champion Marty Whalen is also signed to participate in the 17th annual birthday party.
