Shuttle Service Secured
May 24, 2017
BARNESVILLE, PA — The #1 amateur golf tournament, the Carl Spackler Open, announced today it will return in July with more than its traditional feel and traditional financing. The Captains Club has secured shuttle transportation between the golf course and hotel.
The tournament has experienced very short commutes for the past 5 years. This will continue in 2017.
The Main Stay Suites to Mountain Valley and return to hotel will require just 8 minutes per day. The single commute from hotel to Mountain Valley is 2 miles requiring just 4 minutes by vehicle.
"Mountain Valley has agreed to shuttle players between the hotel and golf course with two oversized vehicles," says Captains Club Chairman Greg Long. "The shuttles are not buses, but oversized vehicles. This is expected to be a great service throughout the event. The players will have to manage heavy demand on mornings with shotgun starts."
Golfers can drive vehicles to the golf course leaving them behind, ride with someone, or grab a shuttle to the golf course. Nightly entertainment does not plan to reach outside Mountain Valley Golf Course.
"The shuttle might be in heavy demand on Friday," added Long. "I have never seen a polite participant who is standing outside the front door of the hotel 'ready to go' be turned down for a ride to the golf course. The first vehicle might be full, but rides from fellow golfers come quickly on shotgun mornings."
The 2017 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to host its practice round on July 12. There are 36 holes with an optional practice round starting early Wednesday. A player meeting is scheduled for Wednesday evening in the clubhouse.
