BARNESVILLE, PA — The Captains Club formally announced today the tournament player's meeting will return in 2017. The traditional meeting will be held on the clubhouse deck after the afternoon practice round and initial bag storage.

"We have purchased 924 chicken wings and 77 pitchers of beer or drinks," said Chairman of the Captains Club Greg Long. "Your dozen wings will be served with variety of sauces and a ticket for a pitcher of beer or drink. The traditional player meeting will start shortly after the course is empty of our participants."

The practice round is scheduled to begin at 2:00PM EST on July 12. The player meeting will follow the shotgun start and initial bag storage. The traditional meeting is expected to start at 8:00PM EST.

"The event has grown to 4 full days and nearly 80 golfers," says Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "The importance of communicating verbally and collectively on Day 1 has enormous value. It is our opportunity to welcome our large rookie class to our event."

The annual meeting is a chance for players to get to know one-another, discuss a quick itinerary, provide contest and award explanations, provide local golf rulings, and player expectations surrounding ground transportation, entertainment, and hotel.

Senior member Matt Mogel asked, "It sounds like this meeting will be cutting into the traditional Welcome Party. Is this accurate?" Long replied, "Yes sir, however this meeting will be shorter than ever. The Welcome Party will be held after the meeting on the clubhouse deck."

The 2017 Carl Spackler Open will be held at Mountain Valley Golf Course in Barnesville, PA. There are 77 golfers expected for the 96-hour golf party. Participants from 18 different states are expected to tee off on July 12.
