Creighton Ready for Open
February 11, 2002
NEW YORK, NY — Carl Spackler Member Don Creighton, last seasons worst golfer based on handicap said Tuesday he is headed to Williamsburg and expects to compete for the Championship Trophy though this year?s major has plenty of talent.
The decision is a surprise given that Don had previously not registered one scorecard since the 2001 Spackler Open. "I'm head over heels about the chance to play in 2002?, said Creighton. ?Who could possibly give up the chance to play in a tournament with names like Trojanowski, Dilks, Garrett, and Weizenecker.?
Don came in 8th place in last year?s Open when Mike Trojanowski missed a four-footer for triple bogey. Trojanowski lost the tournament by one point and wore the Spackler Outfit. ?I just returned for a week in Arizona and don?t think that my clubs were not with me. I?ll be in Williamsburg on April 18th and ready to play.?
The Carl Spackler Open Championship has signed a record 19 players for 2002. This major will also introduce a new horses ass award along with a large $337 purse. There are two remaining positions left in the field.
