SUMMERHILL, PA — The man has a sense of history.

He also has a sense of the pride in which golf should be played, but out here at this time of year, bad conditions are virtually nonexistent in the south.

Chuck Long made the most of his drive through Georgia and Alabama last week when he played three rounds of golf in the low 80's.

"It was truely a priviledge to be in better weather and no signs of work," said Long from the clubhouse at Rocky Creek.  "It helps when you dust off the clubs and shoot good numbers."

Chuck Long registered last December in time for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open registration deadline.  He scored 39, 33, and 38 points respectively during his version of the "southern swing".  He becomes the 6th player to enter the 2005 On Tour Championship.

Chuck surprisingly finds himself in 2nd place with 36.7 points per round.  "Wow!  I really did not inticipate a great start in the tournament.  The media out this week has been relentless on getting a story.  I am just playing golf and enjoying myself."

The 2005 On Tour Championship is scheduled to close the first 10% of it's season-long tournament this Tuesday night.  Matthew Munksgard leads the tournament with 43.9 points per round.
