February 11, 2010

LAGUNA HEIGHTS, TX — The Spackler business office today processed letters of intent from 2002 Carl Spackler Outfit Winner and 2006 & 2008 Horses Ass Award Winner, Tom McCauley, along with senior member Nick Casale who both have been instrumental in the success of this ongoing major championship.

The duo along with the Lynchburg Wildcat will meet in Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport on April 14. The group will fly to Harlingen together and arrive 10:29PM CST.

The 6-foot-3, 166-pound McCauley is excited about the southern choice o f venue. "I know that this sounds like a broken record, but today marks the beginning of my personal quest to win this major championship," said McCauley. "My annual commitment to the Jeremy Myers Beer Tasting Clinic after the practice round on Thursday is another top priority."

McCauley, a.k.a. Turtle Boy, signs as the 19th player to the tournament field. The smaller expected field is expected for the practice round on April 15. The 'Turtle Boy' will be hosting "grass clinic" on Wednesday before the practice round. The hour will be used to teach the field about golf course grasses, their purposes, and how some are smoked.

The Chairman of the Captains Club, Greg Long, expressed his thoughts on the McCauley signing by saying, "I am very happy that McCauley will be joining the field this year. It is where he belongs."

McCauley won the 2006 Horses Ass Award after during a drunk pole dance on the party bus with a depends undergarment over-top his shorts. He returned to the winners circle in 2008 when a large snapping turtle bit off his bottom lip.

Along with Turtle Boy, Nick Casale of Skillman, NJ has registered for his 5th event. Nick is the winner of the 2005 Virtual Tournament.

"We are thrilled that Nick has decided to enter the tournament in Laguna Vista," said Captains Club member Kevin Long, Jr.. "Hopefully, he can hit a grandslam and take home a Golden Jacket for his closet."

Casale, the 1st registry to represent New Jersey, will add to an already talented field for the 10th annual Carl Spackler Open.

"Nick has a lot of regional tournament experience and has a very solid foundation of fundamentals," Kevin Long, Jr. said. "The poor final round posted in Virginia last year was very disappointing. I expect him to make the appropriate adjustments and make a strong move forward this year."

Casale is the 10th best player in Carl Spackler Open history. The +15.9 stroke handicap has never placed outside the Top 30 in four completed events.

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship will host its annual player meeting on Friday morning inside the clubhouse. A buffet breakfast begins at 7:30AM CST and traditional mandatory player meeting beginning at 8:00AM CST.
