Myers Formalizes his Intent

December 10, 2001

ROCKY MOUNT, NC — The Spackler Business Office today received a letter of intent from 2001 Remarkable Shot Award Winner and Captains Club CEO, Jamie Myers, who has been instrumental in the success of this ongoing major championship.

The 5-foot-8, 235-pound Myers did not lead the 2001 tournament even for one hole, but capitalized on a birdie in Round 3.  A native of Warren, PA, Myers almost won the Spackler Outfit, wasn?t it for great play on Saturday.  ?Today marks the beginning of my personal quest to win this major championship.  There will be no time for fun this offseason.?

The Chairman of the Captains Club expressed his acceptance to the tournament by saying, "I am very happy that Frog Legs will be joining the field this year.  He is a fine student of the game and a talented athlete who will add depth to our list of hackers."

Even Hevy Jo came out of hiding upon hearing news of a ?Myers return?.  "He is clearly one of the most respected players in the country. "He possesses quality skills complemented by extraordinary shot making and a tenacious work ethic. In addition, he has a great vision of the field with the potential to be an impact player in the Carl Spackler Open. Playing on a fast Colonial surface will promote his putting and chipping."

The Carl Spackler Open received signed letters from Scott Miller and Mike Trojanowski last week and expects quite a lot of responses this week as the deadline is near.  The Open Championship will be played in Williamsburg, VA on April 18, 2002.
