Rookie Weizenecker Signs

January 16, 2002

COLUMBUS, OH — The Carl Spackler Open added a talented performer with the signing of Dan Weizenecker to letter of intent on Tuesday.  He will join a men?s golf program that has been on the brink of greatness and double in size.  Dan is the 6th rookie to sign to play in the Open.

?We are thrilled that Dan have decided to come to Williamsburg,? said Rick Dosky, Chief Financial Officer of the Captains Club.   Weizenecker, a late registry will add to an already talented field of rookies for the 2nd annual Carl Spackler Open.  Dan has been shooting a consistent 100 strokes per round with a spectacular 98 at Darby Creek Golf Club in mid-November to close out the season.

?Weizenecker has a lot of regional tournament experience and has a very solid foundation of fundamentals,? Dosky said.  ?It?s hard to tell what a national championship atmosphere will do to his game.?   Dan noted in his letter of intent, ?I am not a long hitter and not capable of shooting very low numbers, however I have a terrific short game and am just now hitting my stride as a competitor on the regional stage,? Dosky said.
