Horses Ass Returns
February 2, 2006
NEW GERMANY, PA — The 2005 Horses Ass plans to make a trip to North Carolina this June and hopefully not defend his title.
Chuck Long, Sr. put pen to paper in late-December saying, "I would not miss the opportunity. This is the kind of major championship that deserves my attention."
Nephew Greg Long was glad to see him back. "Chuck is something special to the field of players," says Long with a smile. "He was the first player in recorded history to do beer angels on the bar floor, mistakenly play with his wife's golf clubs, and still anchor a scramble team while passing out 5 times during the 9 hole event."
Long paused and then said, "I almost forgot. We have Munksgard's 98 strokes on the back nine of Thunder Hill in 2003, Ridgeway's 70 at Tanglewood in 2004, and Myers double 18 stroke performance on Hole 18 at The Colonial in 2002. Some records are set to stand forever. Chuck is the first player in Spackler history, maybe golf history, to shoot a 39-63=102 strokes in tournament play."
"Lots of people can shoot in the 30's and lots of people can shoot in the 60's. But how many can do both on the same day."
Chuck Long vaulted up the leaderboard in Round 1. He kept moving up the leaderboard during the front nine of Round 2 jumping into the Top 10, before taking a drink in the fairway on Hole 7. It was a single drink that took approximately 3 holes to totally takeover one of the tournament leaders.
"Chuck can definitely hang with the best," says professional alcohol consumer Matt Davis. "He is one very smart person that will always be a member of my gang."
Chuck signs as the 39th player to the field. Player preferences begin in 13 days.
