COLUMBUS, OH — Allan Hench, a.k.a. The Truth, has signed a letter of intent to play golf at the 2010 Carl Spackler Open this spring. He strengthens an already rock solid Ohio while adding truth and integrity to the tournament.

"I look forward to make a run for the top," said Hench in a quick simple written statement. "Just like last year, but with an extra push on Sunday."

A much leaner Truth has been very competitive over the years and plans to do more than just show up.

"My first year went pretty much as planned, only to fall a little short on the final day," said Hench of his rookie tournament in Michigan. "I will be honing my skills for the showdown in Texas."

Allan finished in 7th position in Michigan after a disappointing final round of 45 points. "I choked," said Hench. "Zero birdies and just two pars in the final round spelled disaster against legends like Ridgeway, Cooper, Brian Flanagan."

Hench has continued to slide since his rookie tournament. He fell from 7th to 30th position in Indiana. Allan fell again to 40th in Virginia.

"It is an honor and privilege to be part of the Spackler tournament," says Hench, "It is with great pride and enthusiasm I await the 2010 event at South Padre Island Golf Club."

Hench registered in February after purchasing a Southwest Airlines ticket. He will travel with Bateson to San Antonio, but finish his trip alone to Harlingen, TX.

"I am excited that Hench will return. He is a quality guy," Bateson said from his office at Nationwide Insurance. "He has a bouncer type frame with a very low handicap, which is rarely seen. He has never been very coachable, but he is a competitor."

Bill Bateson had another angle to cover when asked about Hench's signing. Bill said, "The Truth needs to focus on fine tuning his game. Not just his swing, but mixing it with a little beer without a stroke increase. I personally think his beard goes well with the Carl Spackler Outfit, but then again would never wish that on anyone."

A very lean and mean Allan Hench is the 46th player to register. South Padre Island Golf Club was chosen to host the 10th annual tournament back in November 2010. It will provide golfers ample room for error off the tee, however the Laguna Madre Bay will gobble up balls in its surf.
