CANAL WINCHESTER, OH — For the 2nd time, Justin Gorby will contend in the Carl Spackler Open in search of the elusive Golden Jacket. To reinforce his commitment to the event, he submitted an airline ticket that puts him in southern Texas before anyone in the tournament field.

Gorby purchased his plane ticket in February and will be standing in southern Texas before 10:00AM on April 14.

"There are higher priorities in life and this is one of them," said Gorby of the Carl Spackler Open, explaining his later entry. "Get busy living or get busy dying."

Gorby will receive his first glimpse of the tournament course by 11:30AM and will experience it around 1:15PM.

"There is much room for improvement," says member Mark Palmer, who is the other 2nd year player returning without his referral. "Justin and I both sucked up the place last year and blame our referrals. We plan to try again, but this time without our referrals. Neither of us placed inside the Top 70, but all bad news comes with good news. I can guarantee everyone we both will be placing inside the Top 50 this year."

Justin returns to the Carl Spackler Open after participation at Poplar Grove Golf Club. He finished in tie for 72nd position, which he sees as a good thing. "Everyone says the bottom of the Leaderboard is not good," says Gorby. "I did not wear an outfit and did beat out 15 other guys, which to me is like winning."

He brings to Texas a very strong game off the tee. "His short game is a round killer, " says Captains Club member Brian Long after witnessing Gorby shoot a 28-over 100 last Saturday. "The driver is awesome and really puts him in great position to attack the flagstick."

Justin Gorby signs as the 42nd player and will represent the state of Ohio. The 2010 Carl Spackler Open begins on April 15 with its annual practice round. Tom McCauley, Vice President of Golf Instruction, has signed up once again for a bunker clinic starting at 9:49AM.
