Choice of Venue

SEVIERVILLE, TN — The #1 tournament in amateur golf, Carl Spackler Open, will head back to the mountains this June 2016. The Captains Club finalized the public venue announcement on Wednesday night. The River Course at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, TN will finally host the Carl Spackler Open on June 8, 2016.
"Today, with much excitement, we have selected Sevierville nestled in the foothills of the magnificent Smokey Mountains to host the 2016 Carl Spackler Open," said Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "Once again, we are excited about our unique opportunities, Tennessee, quality of the tournament, and god willing exceeding expectations."
Runner up Mountain Valley Golf Course has not been eliminated, but postponed to a future year.
The Sevierville Golf Club features two 18-hole championship courses: The Highlands , a par 70 that winds through lush rolling hills and fresh water mountain ponds and The River, a par 72 plays along and across the Little Pigeon River.
"Sevierville has been strongly evaluated since the real estate crash of 2008," says Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "The golf course itself was one of handful in the eastern United States to be built during the economic downturn. It has always been considered a strong venue option for a Carl Spackler Open. Pushing Sevierville aside for a 5th straight year did not make sense after all vendors finally got aggressive with their bids."
First impressions are prestine conditions while mother nature provides a boost with scenic views of the Smokey Mountains. "Very solid golf course," says 2015 Champion Allan Hench who played the course in September. "I cannot stress enough how good the course conditions are at Sevierville. This is the year of the water hazard. They are everywhere."
Sevierville Golf Club is a 36-hole facility. The tournament will be held on the River Course starting on June 8. The facility is located 15 minutes south of I-40 and 35 minutes southeast of Knoxville, TN. Both the hotel and evening entertainment are located in Sevierville.
Registration for the 2016 Carl Spackler Open is expected to open on November 20, 2015. A non-refundable non-transferable deposit of $120 per participant must be postmarked by February 14, 2016. The tournament will host its practice round on June 8 and Round 3 on June 11.
