The following is an explanation regarding roommates and golf pairings for the Carl Spackler Open. There will not be a collection of roommate preferences in 2010. Playing partner preferences will be collected when all participants are known.

The following is an explanation on how pairings and roommates are determined.

ROOMMATES
Rookies are assigned to their top preference. All other roommates are paired up using lodging upgrades, Wednesday night reservations, airport arrival, and 9 years of experience.

PLAYING PARTNERS
The daily golf pairings are not finalized until you have a pairing sheet in your hand. There are rounds of golf on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. All pairings for all of these rounds will be built starting with the rookies and their top preference. The rest of the pairings will be based on the hundreds of preferences collected and then moved around for pace of play reasons. The goal is for golfers to never play golf more than twice with the same person.
