VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — The winner of nothing, Kevin Long, Jr., has signed his national letter of intent to play in the 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship. He joins Jay Myers of Rocky Mount, NC who wore the 2002 Al Czverik Outfit. They filed their paperwork this week after purchasing airline tickets into San Antonio International Airport (SAT).

"It is great to be back," said Kevin Long, a.k.a. Winger. "I am excited to join the state of Virginia and hopefully return the Golden Jacket to the beach. My main goal is to teach sandcastle building on Saturday."

Winger has committed financially to participate in his 9th event in 10 years. He skipped the 2002 Carl Spackler Open with a pregnant wife. Long is best noted for sharting in his pants on the back nine at Mountain Valley back in June 2005.

Long played very well at Poplar Grove last June. He found himself in position to win his first Golden Jacket, however scored just 49 points in the final round. The finish was his best since June 2004 when he finished in 4th position. He tied for 9th position in Amherst, VA with Bobby Owens.

Jay Myers, a.k.a. Frog Legs, signs for his 10th straight major championship. He purchased his $79 one-way ticket to San Antonio on Thursday. "I tried to ignore $98.70 with taxes and fees for 3 days," said Myers in a written statement. "I could not sleep and decided the purchase would ease the excitement."

Frog Legs added, "The low fare has room left over for a cowboy hat and a date with 'The Riverwalk' in downtown San Antonio. I am looking forward to shooting the breeze at the Riverwalk like I did when I blew off class at Penn State and went to the Cafe.

It was just 10 years ago when we went to Myrtle Beach. I remember buying those ear warmers in the clubhouse. I am looking forward to a last minute purchase of sunblock as it will be about 45 degrees warmer."

Kevin Long, Jr. and Jay Myers sign as the 3rd and 4th participants. They join Jon Munksgard and Mike Lewis as other participants of the 10th annual event. There are 40 to 60 participants expected for the 'once-in-a-decade' golf trip.
