A Christmas Wish

December 4, 2009

NORTHPOLE — Remember when you were a child and there was a special wish you had for Christmas? The Carl Spackler Open is ageless and making your grown-up dreams come true by granting wishes that will make someone happy throughout the year -- not just at Christmas time. Every June is Christmas!

The Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled to be played in 131 days. It's open registration began on November 14 and runs through March 15, 2010.

"It's time to start thinking about true gift giving and not just throwing money away on gift cards," says Captains Club member Chris Philipsen. Each Texas participant is required to purchase an airline ticket or send a personal check to Rick Dosky for $200 or $399. This kind of gift is guaranteed to make a loved one happy and continue to give for years to come.

Philipsen explains the importance of putting your golf trip fee or airline ticket on your Christmas list. "What gift would be better from the wife then an airline ticket to Harlingen Valley International Airport?" asked Philipsen. "The answer is your wife writing out and mailing a check for $399 to Rick Dosky."

The Christmas season started last Friday. The registration period has been pushed back to March 15 because of the distance to venue.

"There was that rare excuse about money," says Philipsen, Vice President of Online Scoring. "I have one thing on my christmas list. My friends and family can take chances and potentially waste time or commit to buying the best gift of all."

Chris also reminded players of the importance of getting your vacation logged in with the boss. He said, "Getting your vacation scheduled today will be the hint towards the best employee gift possible. Maybe a freebee vacation day or an early company bonus."

All players will be required to register through the Spackler business office with email confirmation of an airline ticket and/or postmarking their check by March 15, 2010. Registration details are available online.

The absolute deadline has been established as a means for our department to count the number of serious players interested in this year's major and for our office to make appropriate accommodations by March 18.

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled to begin on April 15, 2010 at a very warm and sunny South Padre Island Golf Club in Laguna Vista, TX. The total cost for the tournament is $399 plus airline ticket.
