POWELL, OH — Captains Club member Brian Flanagan today announced the signing of himself from Powell, Ohio, to a national letter of intent during the signing period. The 8-time participant won the 2008 Carl Spackler Open in Michigan and second place the following year in Indiana.

"I am still spending Pelosi's stimulus check from 2008," says Brian Flanagan. "My four dependents and 2008 tournament victory have been a financial blessing that continues to give."

Brian Flanagan, a.k.a. Butter, will return for his 4th straight event. He is the 4th champion to register for the event behind Greg Long, Rick Dosky, and returning champion Chad Long.

"I told my wife about the event being 'so close' to Ohio this year," said Flanagan. "She replied, 'I couldn't care less where the hell it is, ask Long when I am going to get something for you winning all the dog bowls.'"

Butter Flanagan has also taken home the Kitchen Pass Award with stunning passes in 2003 and 2007.

"Daddy. Are you going to that golf thing again this year?" asked Butter's youngest son. Brian replied, "Yes." His son asked, "Are you getting another jacket?" Butter replied, "I am going to try. It is not an easy thing to do." Flanagan's son pointed above the television in the family room, "Can I wear the jacket to school for 'show and tell'?" Flanagan chuckled and replied, "No. You must earn the priviledge. It is something you will understand when your older."

The jacket remains in its elevated state, which is above the television in the family room. Butter added, "I love when people come over and say, 'What's that?' It gives me the opportunity to say, 'I am a champion. A major champion.'"

Flanagan was asked about his chances to win another prestigious Golden Jacket in Texas. He simply replied, "Sure. I am not going out to the range in 2 1/2 feet of snow for my health. I am not planning to let down my family. My only homework this winter is to staying loose and finding the best place on the beach to get my picture with my jacket."

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins in 54 days in Laguna Vista, TX. Player registration continues with payment or confirmation of an airline ticket through March 15, 2010.
