Player Meeting Announced

March 12, 2010

LAGUNA VISTA, TX — The Captains Club announced yesterday the mandatory tournament player's meeting will take place before Round 1 play in the South Padre Island clubhouse on April 16. The required meeting will take approximately 45 minutes and start in conjunction with breakfast.

"Our meeting will cover many things," says Chairman Greg Long. "Please be seated prior by 7:00AM as the meeting will last the entire 45 minutes."

"I like the meeting as I get my first glimpse of the Golden Jacket," says member Justin Gorby. "I also come away with full knowledge of the weekend ahead."

The meeting is a chance for players to get to know one-another, discuss a quick itinerary, provide contest and award explanations, notables such as the bus and awards presentation, chair a rule discussion, and provide player expectations surrounding ground transportation. The daily pairing sheets for Round 1 are expected to be distributed with a golf rule discussion.

"There will some gift distribution at the player meeting this year," says Captains Club member Brian Flanagan. "Just leave some bacon in the buffet for me."

The buffet breakfast will be available starting at 6:30AM. The breakfast will include scramble eggs, bacon, sausage, potato, pastries, toast, juice, and coffee.

The meeting will take place approximately 50 feet from the practice green and a quick walk to the practice range. There is 45 minutes of practice time scheduled before the 8:45AM shotgun start.

The Carl Spackler Open Championship will begin in 33 days. Reportedly, Jeff Tatum and Dave Nickles ran into each other in a Virginia Kmart trying to buying up the last pocket-size notebook for course notes. Everything appears to be ready for the 2010 major championship.
