Carl Spackler Open, Inc.

WESTERVILLE, OH — The Carl Spackler Open Championship is the premier amateur sports trip in America. Rick Dosky announced last summer the golf event had incorporated in the State of Ohio and registered with the Internal Revenue Service. The 9-year event has moved forward as a non-profit organization with a '501c7' social club status.

The event started in March 2001 in Myrtle Beach with 9 golfers. It has steadily grown by 877% over the past 8 years. "We pushed through 150 registered members last year," says Rick Dosky of the Spackler community. "We have transitioned the event into a more appropriate financial structure to meet long-term goals."

The event name will not change, however, it will now be organized and run by Carl Spackler Open, Inc., which received all its paperwork to be recognized as a non-profit organization. "We have implementing some minor changes for the organization, but participants should not notice much," said Dosky. "The non-profit status will remove personal and tax liability from the Captains Club plus clean up the financial books."

The Captains Club met with multiple attorneys and tax associates over the summer. "We talked at length with the IRS and Department of Taxation within the State of Ohio," says Dosky. "We are very aware of the tax rules and responsibilities and looking forward to the future."

The Carl Spackler Open, Inc. will close the books on August 31 each year. The new fiscal year will begin September 1.

The non-profit organization moved the existing balance into its new savings accounts months ago. "We have opened both a checking and savings account for the event," says Dosky. "Participants will be asked to mail checks to me, but write them out to 'Carl Spackler Open, Inc.'. instead of Rick Dosky."

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship will be held in Laguna Vista, TX starting April 15. There are 48 to 60 participants expected to sign for the 10th annual event. There are 12 days remaining to pay remaining balances.
