Laguna Vista News Conference

March 22, 2010

LAGUNA VISTA, TX — South Padre Island Golf Club and Laguna Vista, TX where chosen back in November 2009 as hosts for the 10th annual Carl Spackler Open Championship. The Captains Club continued to publicly release the details surrounding the 5-day event. The latest news conference was scheduled to release local information.

"Welcome everyone. The Captains Club would like to provide information surrounding the services provided in Laguna Vista," said Jason Watson. "I have been asked to provide a visual picture of Laguna Vista, TX and what it can provide the event and its participants.

Laguna Vista appears to be a town built specifically for the Carl Spackler Open. There are five retail businesses. The first is (1) South Padre Island Golf Club, which has a pro shop. The other four businesses are located in the Laguna Vista Shopping Center, which we will refer to as 'Laguna Vista SC'.

There is (2) Coastal Spirits, which is a liquor store and carry out. The store is open daily between 10:00AM and 9:00PM, but closed on Sunday.

There is (3) Bayside Cafe, which is a restaurant that specializes in breakfast and lunch. The Awards Presentation on Sunday will be held at the Bayside Cafe.

There is (4) Bay B Boomers, which is a smaller sports bar with pool table, darts, and full dinner menu.

Lastly, there is (5) Island View, which is a convenience store. Participants will find commonly purchased items and an ATM machine inside. Island View is open daily between 8:00AM to 11:00PM.

The shopping center and golf course will provide almost everything a participant will need during the weekend, however with proactive consideration to when each is open."

The Laguna Vista SC is located 1.0 mile from the golf course and on the way to South Padre Island and airports. It is located directly across the street from the police station.

"The clubhouse will not be serving breakfast on April 15 or April 19," says Watson. "The Bayside Cafe provides a quality breakfast for interested participants. Bay B Boomers Sports Bar will host the initial social event on Wednesday, April 14. It will also host a happy hour on Sunday, April 18."

The Carl Spackler Open will provide a scheduled shuttle to the Laguna Vista SC. The actual schedule is located in the online itinerary and daily pairing sheets. The participant pickup procedure is located in the online notebook. Participants will also be provided a phone number and taxi service for additional convienience.

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open will include an Awards Dinner and Presentation on April 18. The dinner is expected to include a Prime Rib steak, salad, vegetable, dinner roll, and dessert. Participants will be expected to bring their alcohol to dinner.
