GXVII Registration To Begin July 22

July 15, 2013

WHEELING, WV — After much debate over the last 4-6 weeks, plans for GXVII have been wrapped up and are ready to be released. Golfapalooza founder GStan took time from his busy schedule to make the announcement.

"We are pleased to announce plans for this year's Golfapalooza, GXVII," GStan said earlier today. "We're entering our 15th year of this event being held at Alpine Lake. It's hard to believe we've been coming there that long, and sometimes hard to believe they let us keep coming back."

"Thursday will start at 11:55 with our traditional Jager shot on the first tee followed by a four-man scramble for 18 holes. As of now the clubhouse has given us permission to go out in eightsomes. Friday will be four-man best ball starting at 11:00 am. Saturday will be two-man best ball starting at 11:00 am. We have decided to eliminate the extra nine on Friday and also eliminate the two-man scramble for this year. The reason for having the four-man scramble on Thursday instead of Saturday is that in order to play in groups of eight the course can't be crowded; Thursday is the best day for that. We'll do our best to let the Brew Crew defend their scramble title even though we're switching to 18 holes. We highly recommend that they DON'T try to drink a beer a hole on Thursday."

GStan passed the microphone to Sheik for other details on the tournament.

"Tournament registration will begin on July 22. Options will be available as in the past to order Golfapalooza logo apparel and enter into many different golf contests," Sheik added. "The base trip cost this year will be $345, a slight increase over last year but still a great value for what we believe is the best golf weekend of the year. All the contests are the same with the exception of the JT +11.5. With the change to the four-man scramble from the two-man scramble, JT has made one change to the contest; prior to this year 11 was a win, but now 11 will be a push. He thinks that Loozers will have an advantage with two extra swings on Thursday. It's his contest, so he makes the rules not me."

"Remember that registration is a two-step process. First you must register as attending and be added to the trip. After that, you will be able to complete the course options and make your selections. Trip registration will be available through August 23 with playing partner preference selection through September 1. This will allow Loozers a final chance to include late attendees in their partner preferences."

65 days remain until the KGB Captains Cup.
