STREETSBORO, OH — The Captains Club continues its search for the host course for the 2023 Carl Spackler Open. The beautiful Boulder Creek Golf Club was contacted, visited, and ruled out for June 2023 consideration.
Its great for Boulder Creek to be considered for our 22nd Carl Spackler Open, Dave Osborne said Wednesday on behalf of the Captains Club. Its a really fun golf course and a two hour drive from my house. It doesnt get any better than that.
Boulder Creek Golf Club is built on 200 acres of spectacular land that was the end result of the ice age. Over 100 feet of elevation changes and the unique contour of the property make it one of the most beautiful golf courses in Ohio. Each hole was painstakingly built to the natural topography utilizing the natural features of the property to their fullest advantage.
Boulder Creek joins our 2023 venue list for only July 12, said Chairman of the Captains Club Greg Long. Boulder has no availability for June 21-24, but is excited to be considered for July 12 and more flexible 2024 calendar.
Boulder Creek Golf Club was visited in June 2022. The entire facility was in very good condition and provides affordability for both golf and hotel. This is one of my all-time favorites, says Dave Osborne. There is a lot of character at Boulder Creek and for sure an exciting venue possibility.
Boulder Creek is located between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. The golf course has a separate banquet facility for both a player meeting and awards dinner.
The 2023 Carl Spackler Open does not have a date nor a location. The date is based on golf course selection. The practice round will likely be held April 12, June 22, or July 12. The Captains Club continues to look for proposals. The Captains Club continues to look for proposals, but has officially eliminated Riverfront in Virginia and Otter Creek in Canada. Boulder Creek Golf Club is possible been proposed to host the 22nd annual event.
