CHOCOWINITY, NC — The Carl Spackler Open is 21 years old with the business office not only exploring its locale for 2023, but a date for its locale. The Captains Club added Cypress Landing Golf Club in Chocowinity, North Carolina to the list of possible sites for the 2023 Carl Spackler Open.
"We are working on all the possibilities for 2018 at this moment," says Matt Pritchard, Vice-President of Awards and member of the Captains Club. "We do like our offer from Cypress Landing and offers from the town of Washington, North Carolina."
Cypress Landing Golf Course is located in Eastern North Carolina among lovely homes, tall pines and lakes. Its signature 15th hole overlooks scenic Chocowinity Bay. "The conditions are very good with all 18 holes lined by pine trees," said member Chris Price after a September round. "These pine trees would be a welcome change after not having trees in 3 years. The greens are super nice and hospitality was also super during my visit."
Opening in 1996, Cypress Landing rests among beautiful tall pines and lakes along the Inner Banks and Chocowinity Bay. The par-72 course, designed by Bill Love with Ault, Clark & Associates, was built for a senior living community.
"Really well-maintained course," added Chris Price. "Fairways and greens were near perfect. I found the course to be very fair. A number of holes were picturesque."
Cypress Landing is located 8 minutes from Washington, North Carolina. The town has ample lodging and non-golf-related fun.
The 2023 Carl Spackler Open is expecting a record number of registrants for 2023. The Captains Club is evaluating golf courses in Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, and North Carolina. A decision on the venue will be made in early November.
