The player meeting is scheduled for Thursday morning. There are some items to communicate prior to this meeting.

(1) Poplar Grove asked about food on Wednesday. The pro was told there are no guarantees, but 75 golfers arriving around lunch time should be hungry. Their solution was to set up a tent near the parking lot on Wednesday with food. The featured item will be cold cut sandwiches.

(2) The golf course has opened new roads in the past 5 months. Use the local driving directions provided. Greg Garrett and Greg Long had both directions and a GPS and got lost.

(3) There are two bars/restaurants across the street from the hotel. One is very large country music bar (Cattle Annies) and the other is smaller with a deck (Big Lick Tropical Bar). The owner of Cattle Annies is nice, but treating 88 golfers as 10% of their revenue stream. The owner of Big Lick Tropical Bar is also nice, but treating 88 golfers as 90% of their revenue stream. Big Lick normally closes at 12AM on Wednesday and provides no special entertainment. Big Lick Tropical Bar was told they can expect to see at least 80 participants on Wednesday night for at least a few hours. They have agreed to host a classic rock band (Bugs in the Elevator) with no cover charge for the Carl Spackler Open. They have also agreed to stay open til 2AM on Wednesday night. An expectation was set with a vendor in the best interests of the entire event and your attendance would be appreciated.

(4) IF YOU ARE PLAYING GOLF WEDNESDAY... DO NOT TOUCH THE PAIRING SHEETS AT THE HOTEL FRONT DESK! THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR TUESDAY NIGHT STAYS. There will be 14 pairing sheets left at the hotel front desk for 14 guys not participating in the practice round on Wednesday. Greg Long will begin to distribute 74 pairing sheets on Wednesday morning. Golfers who are playing golf Wednesday can obtain a pairing sheet at the Poplar Grove practice range on Wednesday.

(5) The tournament yardage is higher than the traditional 6,400 yards. The USGA Slope Rating is the highest in 9 years. Pace of play is also a concern each year. Players should expect to see 3 holes moved up all week starting Wednesday. This is on purpose and by design. Poplar Grove has agreed to move #4, #10, and #17 tees up. 'Blue tee' will be moved up to traditional 'white tee' locations. 'White tee' will be moved up to traditional 'gold tee' location.
